From small beginnings at the Village Games Roadshow held on a cold January day in 2013, with Archery being just one of several 'taster' sports on offer, after fielding successful teams in both the 2013 and 2014 Norfolk Village Games we are now half way through our second series of Archery coaching sessions (April 2015) with a record number of 15 people having signed up. Interest is clearly growing in this fascinating sport, at least in Hainford, and we are hopeful of forming a Village team in the near future.
Carolyn Atherton came along to a recent coaching session and took the below photographs, from which you can see that the adults are just outnumbered by the youngsters from our village! Indeed, the youngest participant is under 10, and we even have a family group with grandfather-son-granddaughter!
If anyone in the village is interested in joining our prospective team of village archers, or even just wanting to learn a little more about the sport first, please contact me at email@example.com.
We are going to move ahead with forming a Village Archery club, and in the meantime will be continuing our Sunday morning training sessions as from the 24th May, on a 'pay per attendance' basis. If anyone is interested then you can just turn up on the day, although I would recommend that you e-mail me at least a day or two beforehand on the above e-mail address to check that we will be having a session that Sunday, as they are dependent upon people available, including our coach, at the moment.
